KMM PLUS Sp. z o.o. has received a grant from the European Funds for the project titled "Development of a technology for processing trimmings from finished leather into a finishing coating for leather and the implementation of a technology for finishing and buffing leather using paper-based coating carriers."The project consists of the following modules:
• R&D (Research and Development)
In the R&D module, we will conduct research and development work to develop a technology for processing trimmings from finished leather into a finishing coating for leather. As a result of this module, the following products will be developed: leather intended for the furniture industry and for footwear uppers, including military and field footwear. The target market for leather produced from waste will be companies manufacturing leather products, particularly for furniture production. The products will also be directed to footwear manufacturers, including military footwear producers.
• IMPLEMENTATION OF INNOVATION
In the innovation implementation module, we will introduce the results of our independently conducted R&D work, which involves developing a unique method for producing a new type of leather based on an environmentally friendly production process that enhances the durability of the new leather during use. As part of the project, a technological line will be purchased to produce this new type of leather. The new types of leather will be supplied to medium and large footwear manufacturers in Europe and to factories producing leather goods, particularly near Poland’s borders, where sourcing from distant tanneries presents a logistical challenge.
• DIGITALIZATION
In the digitalization module, a production management system will be developed. Additionally, we will acquire the necessary fixed assets to digitalize the company’s operations.
• GREEN TRANSITION
In the green transition module, we will purchase a heat and humidity recovery system, along with humidity and temperature sensors. Additionally, photovoltaic panels and a heat recovery system will be installed, and a pre-treatment wastewater facility will be built.
• INTERNATIONALIZATION
In the internationalization module, we will promote our products (which are the company’s proprietary secondary products, developed through the implementation of innovations and R&D work) at trade fairs and business missions. The aim of the project is to enhance the company’s competitiveness by increasing the level of innovation in its product offerings and aligning them with customer needs and expectations. The expected outcome of the project is the implementation of a new, environmentally friendly technology in the company. The project’s execution will contribute to achieving the objectives of FENG and Priority 1, which focus on developing and strengthening research and innovation capabilities and utilizing advanced technologies.
